The primary function of training in the Defence Forces is to develop and maintain the capabilities necessary to fulfil the roles laid down by Government. Where relevant training is not available on-island, it is often necessary for Defence Forces personnel to attend training institutions overseas. I am advised by the military authorities that the following specialist training courses were undertaken by Air Corps personnel in the UK during 2024 and to date in 2025:

Name of Course Duration
Direction Finder Training 3 days
NDT (Non Destructive Testing) Course 5–9 Days
Ab Initio RW Pilot Training 16 months approx.
H145 Type Conversion Course 27 days
Breathing Apparatus Instructor 2 weeks
Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructor 2 weeks
Road Traffic Collision Instructor (Fire Service) 2 Weeks
Incident Commander (Fire Service) 2 Weeks
Falcon 6X (Type rating training) 5 Weeks
Learjet 45 (Recurrent training) 5 days
Flight attendant Cse 2 days
