The primary function of training in the Defence Forces is to develop and maintain the capabilities necessary to fulfil the roles laid down by Government. Where relevant training is not available on-island, it is often necessary for Defence Forces personnel to attend training institutions overseas. I am advised by the military authorities that the following specialist training courses were undertaken by Air Corps personnel in the UK during 2024 and to date in 2025:
| Name of Course | Duration |
|---|---|
| Direction Finder Training | 3 days |
| NDT (Non Destructive Testing) Course | 5–9 Days |
| Ab Initio RW Pilot Training | 16 months approx. |
| H145 Type Conversion Course | 27 days |
| Breathing Apparatus Instructor | 2 weeks |
| Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructor | 2 weeks |
| Road Traffic Collision Instructor (Fire Service) | 2 Weeks |
| Incident Commander (Fire Service) | 2 Weeks |
| Falcon 6X (Type rating training) | 5 Weeks |
| Learjet 45 (Recurrent training) | 5 days |
| Flight attendant Cse | 2 days |
