262. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if any personnel from the Naval Service went to the UK for a specialist training course which is not available within the State in 2024 and to date in 2025; if so, the name and duration of this course, in tabular form. [60976/25]

The primary function of training in the Defence Forces is to develop and maintain the capabilities necessary to fulfil the roles laid down by Government. Where relevant training is not available on-island, it is often necessary for Defence Forces personnel to attend training institutions overseas. I am advised by the military authorities that the following specialist training courses not available within the State were undertaken by Naval Service personnel in the UK during 2024 and to date in 2025:
| Course | Duration |
|---|---|
| Breathing Apparatus Instructor Course | 4–5 days |
| Royal Navy CBRNDC (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Damage Control) 4a | 3 days |
| Royal Navy CBRNDC 35 | 32 days |
| Royal Navy SEMC WE (Systems Engineering & Management Course - Weapon Engineering) | 6 months approx. |
| Royal Navy Advanced Stability | 16 days |
| Kongsberg 600 - Engine Room Management Course | 3–4 days |
| Principle Warfare Officers Course | 5 months approx. |
| International Electronic Warfare Managers Course | 3 months approx. |
| Long Navigation Officers Course | 4 months approx. |
