On 9th July last I visited the TG4 offices and studios in Baile na hAbhann where I met with both the Cathaoirleach of the Board and the Director General, as well as members of the senior management of TG4.

The meeting was an opportunity for me to see firsthand the great work which TG4 continues to do as one of our two public service broadcasters, to tour the facility, meet staff and to discuss a number of priority issues for TG4.

Among the items which were discussed were resourcing in the short and medium term as TG4 continues to implement its most recent Statement of Strategy which was published in 2023, and key objectives within the Strategy, including potential for the development of the TG4 news services, and the prominence and findability of TG4 on platforms.

While a further meeting between myself with the Cathaoirleach and Director General has not yet been scheduled, the Secretary General of the Department is scheduled to meet with the Director General this week. I look forward to continuing to work with TG4 over the coming years as they continue to fulfill their public service mandate, delivering high quality content for audiences at home and abroad, as well as the important role they play is supporting the independent production sector, particularly in the Gaeltacht regions.
