In order to provide assurance around public financial management and value-for-money, the Secretary General of my Department wrote on 24 February 2025 to RTÉ and other bodies under the aegis of the Department, seeking information in respect of capital projects with a value of over €500,000; projects which were abandoned or have materially failed to deliver on their objectives; and any other issues of concern in this regard.

RTÉ responded to my Department on 10 March 2025, and the response included reference to the overspend and impairment on the Channel Management System, which came into operation in September 2022 and which remains in use by RTÉ.
