Business of Seanad.
I have received notice from Senator Bannon that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism to make a statement on the up-to-date position on the application for the construction of the new swimming pool at the Mall Complex, Longford.
I have also received notice from Senator Mansergh of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide funding at the earliest opportunity for the repair and refurbishment of the unacceptable and substandard facilities at St. Ailbhe's vocational school, Tipperary town.
I have also received notice from Senator Feighan of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the reason the decentralisation of 10,000 jobs announced over three and a half years ago to areas which had not previously benefited from decentralisation such as counties like County Roscommon has still not commenced and if there are any proposals for decentralisation to Roscommon, Boyle, Castlerea and Ballaghaderreen.
I have also received notice from Senator McHugh of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline the contingency plans he has to address the ongoing funding shortfalls incurred by the Cheshire Foundation in Ireland.
I have also received notice from Senator Higgins of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to institute an immediate inquiry into allegations contained in a newspaper (details supplied) on 22 June 2003 that RUC officers may have colluded in the murder of the late councillor, Eddie Fullerton, at his home in Buncrana, County Donegal.
I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Bannon, Mansergh and Feighan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators McHugh and Higgins may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
