To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if he will provide a breakdown, based on each District Court, of the number of drivers in each month from 2022 to date in 2025, who were before the District Court for offences under the road traffic Acts, incurring penalty points but who avoided convictions and penalty points as they agreed to make a donation to a charity via the court poor box. I propose to take Question No 306 and 307 together.

Management of the courts, operational matters and logistical functions are the responsibility of the judiciary and Courts Service, which are independent in exercising their functions under the Courts Service Act 1998 and given the separation of powers in the Constitution.

However, to be of assistance to the Deputy, the Courts Service has provided my Department with statistics, as outlined in the table at the link below, on the number of offences and number of persons who were before the District Court and District Court Appeals for penalty point offences which resulted in being struck out/dismissed due to the driver making a contribution to the court poor box during the period from 2022 to the end of September 2025. The Courts Service has indicated that it is not possible to provide this breakdown on a monthly basis.
