304. To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of Gardaí currently assigned to community policing and night patrols in the Shandon, Blarney Street, and north city centre areas; and the recorded number of public-order and anti-social behaviour incidents in the past six months. I continue to engage regularly with the Garda Commissioner to ensure our Gardaí have the resources they need. I am assured by the Garda Commissioner that the allocation of Garda resources and personnel is kept under continued review to ensure their optimum use. Among the factors considered are crime trends, population stats and operational policing demands.

In the interest of transparency, An Garda Síochána publish information in relation to Community Policing by Division, including for the Cork City Division. This is publicly available and can be found at the following link: www.garda.ie/garda/en/about-us/our-departments/human-resources-and-people-development/garda-hr-directorate/garda-strength-breakdown-2025/garda-strength-breakdown-2025.html

The Deputy should select the most recently available date and then select the file titled “Community Garda by Division 2008 to 30 September 2025".

I am advised by the Garda authorities that since July 2024, extra visible patrols have been deployed under the Cleaner Streets Initiative to address antisocial behaviour, shoplifting, and begging in Cork city centre. These patrols provide a strong, proactive, and highly visible policing presence in response to issues raised by local stakeholders.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the national statistical agency, is responsible for the compilation and publication of all crime statistics.

The CSO produces these statistics using data recorded on An Garda Síochána’s PULSE system and makes regular releases in relation to various crime statistics. The most recent statistics were released on 24 September 2025, providing stats for Recorded Crime for Quarter 2 2025.

Datasets providing figures on recorded crime incidents by Division and type of offence can be found on the CSO website at the following link: data.cso.ie/table/CJQ06

In the interest of transparency, An Garda Síochána publishes data on the allocation of Gardaí by Division, Station and rank. This includes allocations for Gardaí attached to Ballincollig Garda Station. This can be found at the following link:

www.garda.ie/en/about-us/our-departments/human-resources-and-people-development/garda-hr-directorate/garda-strength-breakdown-2025/

The Deputy should select the most recently available date and then select the file titled “Garda members by Division District Station 2009 to the most recent date", for a breakdown of Gardaí by Garda station going back to 2009.

The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution and stationing of Garda personnel throughout the State under Section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.
