I can confirm that officials in my Department, including in the relevant Irish mission, are aware of this case and are providing consular assistance.
As with all consular cases, a dedicated consular officer has been assigned to the family of the Irish citizen who has been detained and they remain in contact. The consular officer has provided support and advice to the citizen and their family in accordance with the Department’s Consular Assistance Charter. I can further confirm that officials in the relevant mission have carried out a consular visit to the Irish citizen, as part of efforts to assist .
I wish to assure the Deputy that officials in my Department will continue to provide all appropriate consular assistance to the citizen.
