The Department has not made a tax settlement with the Revenue Commissioners in the past five years.

The Department made an unprompted voluntary disclosure to Revenue in 2025 regarding an underpayment of benefit-in-kind (BIK) charge for taxi journeys. Taxi journeys are required for a small cohort of staff for operational and health and safety reasons relating to the opening and closing of buildings outside of core hours.

A Revenue measure was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic that ceased the requirement to pay BIK on these taxi journeys. However, when this Revenue exemption expired, the Department did not reinstate the practice. The Department made a payment of €32,809 to Revenue which included interest on late payment of €4,191 and reinstated the practice in 2025. All subsequent filings and tax payments are up to date.

There are no bodies under the aegis of the Department.
