To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if her Department collects, maintains, or has access to data relating to the number and percentage of persons of non-Irish ethnic background residing in Ballyhaunis, Ballyvaughan, Clones, Lisdoonvarna, Longford, Gort, Granard, and Newport for the census years 2016, 2022, and 2024 or the most recent available data; if her Department has requested or received such data from other State bodies including the Central Statistics Office, An Garda Síochána, the Department of Social Protection, or the Department of Education; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration is responsible for services relating to immigration to Ireland by non-EU/EEA citizens, including visa applications, international protection and citizenship services. The Department does not hold the information requested.
The Central Statistics Office provides guidance on how the State defines and invites people resident in Ireland to self-declare ethnicity as part of participation in the Census.
