The Irish Prison Service routinely reviews the resource requirements across the prison service. Prisoner cohort and the expanding prison population in conjunction with the monitoring of wider staffing requirements and overall vacancies that arise within the organisation form part of these reviews. This information is used to plan and inform recruitment campaigns, to ensure resources are targeted where required.
