Over the past several years my Department has supported capital development at the National Library of Ireland (NLI) with the following elements delivered to date:
- A new Book Repository- opened in 2019 with state of the art safety features effectively safeguarding the collection stored within;
- A new modern Prints Drawings Store- located in the former seminar space in the 1827 Wing which has been refurbished in 2019 and fitted out as a new permanent home for NLI's collection of over 100,000 prints and drawings dating as far back as the 17th century;
- Refurbishment of the Art Room- completed in 2023 and providing space for use as a Visual Collections Reading Room and Reception for communications & development activities;
- Relocation and upgrading of the Manuscripts Reading Room- converting a former exhibition space into a modern and accessible Manuscript Reading Room opened in 2023.
