The redevelopment of the Abbey Theatre involves the building of a new world-class sustainable theatre in which to present the best of Irish and international theatre on its existing historic Dublin city site.

The Abbey prepared a Preliminary Business Case (PBC) for the project and an External Assurance Process of the PBC was undertaken by PwC. Their report was finalised in August 2024 and found that the Abbey Redevelopment Preliminary Business Case was in compliance with the Infrastructure Guidelines.

After an initial review of the PBC by the Major Projects Advisory Group (MPAG) in late 2024, a number of amendments are now being made to the document in order to allow the investment proposal to progress through the remaining approval gates of the Infrastructure Guidelines.
