Government policy in relation to starting pay in the civil and public service is that all new entrants start on Step 1 of the relevant salary scale.

The gross starting point for Keeper of Manuscripts, as per the most recent PPC pay scales of 1 August 2025, is €85,786. The estimated full year costs to recruit two additional Keeper of Manuscripts is set out in tabular form as follows:.
