A company limited by guarantee (CLG) is governed by Part 18 of the Companies Act 2014, it does not have a share capital, and the members’ liability is limited to the amount they guarantee in its constitution to contribute if the company is wound up. A CLG is generally a not for profit entity formed for charitable, social, or professional purpose.
There was 19,038 CLGs on the Register of Companies at the end of 2024. The Companies Registration Office does not collect data on the number of persons employed in a company.
