3211. To ask the Minister for Health if the HSE has formally notified her Department that the national biological treatment service for rabies, specifically the service responsible for assessing persons potentially exposed to rabies and delivering critical biologic prophylaxis, has ceased operations as of July 2025 due to retirement; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The HSE has informed my Department of the regionalisation of the post exposure treatment (PET) service for rabies and other rare diseases.

As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
