3210. To ask the Minister for Health if her Department, together with the HSE, has carried out a review of all cancer treatment facilities to identify what vacant posts need to be filled in order to ensure that all patients have care in a timely manner; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department has invested heavily in the National Cancer Strategy and associated initiatives in recent years, enabling the further development of our national cancer services, and leading to improved outcomes for cancer patients.

This funding has enabled the recruitment of more than 670 staff to cancer services since the National Cancer Strategy was launched in 2017, including an additional 200 nursing staff, 100 consultants, and 180 health and social care professionals in designated cancer centres. Responsibility for identifying priority posts for recruitment rests with the HSE, and accordingly, I have referred the question to the HSE for direct reply to the Deputy.
