22. To ask the Taoiseach the engagement he has had with the British Prime Minister in relation to legacy legislation, especially in view of reported pushback against the Prime Minister’s plan to repeal such legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [42670/25]

I spoke by phone with British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, most recently on 18 July.

We had a constructive discussion on a joint approach to dealing with the legacy of the Troubles. We agreed to engage further on legacy in the coming weeks.

The Government is committed to working jointly with the British Government towards delivery of a framework that is compliant with the European Convention on Human Rights and can command the confidence of survivors and victims’ families.

During our call on 18 July, we also spoke on EU-UK relations and on preparations for the next UK-Ireland summit due to take place in 2026.
