935. To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the details and dates of any correspondence raising issues in relation to workplace culture, dismissals, expenses or financial accountability at the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland; if he is aware of any review into culture, governance, accountability or structures at DCCI; the findings and recommendations of any such review if conducted; and will he initiate such a review if none has yet taken place. The Design and Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) is an independent organisation dedicated to advancing the commercial development of Irish designers and makers. The Crafts Council of Ireland is a company limited by guarantee and is therefore established under and regulated by the Companies Acts 1963-2014. It plays a key role in fostering innovation, promoting design thinking, and contributing to the formulation of Government policy.
DCCI receives funding from my Department through Enterprise Ireland (EI), underpinned by a Service Level Agreement (SLA) between EI and DCCI. This SLA establishes the framework for agreeing service levels and managing performance in relation to the funding provided by EI on behalf of my Department.
The funding allocated to DCCI through Enterprise Ireland is subject to audit by the C and AG as part of its annual audit of Enterprise Ireland.
While my office has received three items of correspondence in the period of 2020 - 2025 in relation to workplace culture, dismissals, expenses or financial accountability at the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland, the Board of DCCI is responsible for the governance of the body in line with best practice and standards in corporate governance. In that context, the DCCI Board would be the most appropriate body for addressing any operational issues.
