928. To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the National Standards Authority of Ireland provide certification for modular home extensions or garden log cabins; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [42829/25]

The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) provide certification for modular home extensions or garden log cabins in accordance with the current Technical Guidance Document (TGD) - Part D: Materials and Workmanship 2013 - Schedule D3, the NSAI MMC Certification unit provides certification for modular home extensions or garden log cabins, as required under current Irish Building Regulations and in accordance with the current S.I. No. 497/1997.
Materials used, where subject to the above requirements must be 'Fit for their intended Use' and suitable for the Local climatic conditions in which they are to be placed with due care given to given to the of such materials / products for their durability, safety, local climatic conditions (e.g. wind driven rain, humidity etc.) and other such issues, as set out in TGD Part D 2013 - Section 1.1 - Fitness of Materials and Ref: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-housing-local-government-and-heritage/publications/technical-guidance-document-d-materials-and-workmanship/
The Modular home extension or garden log cabin building may need to be registered, before commencement, on the Building Control Management System (BCMS) or an Opt Out formally declared on the BCMS platform, where applicable. Further details for same can be found by contacting either the National Building Control & Market Surveillance Office (NBC & MSO) and/or the relevant Local Authority Building Control section, on the requirements for same.
