The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is responsible for two Votes - Vote 27 (International Cooperation) and Vote 28 (Foreign Affairs and Trade). There are no agencies under the aegis the Department.
My Department complies with the guidelines and circulars issued by the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitisation on official travel. The central aim of Departmental travel policy is to minimise official travel costs and to achieve value for money for expenditure necessarily incurred, consistent with the effective discharge of official duties.
The travel and subsistence costs across both Votes from 1 January 2021 to the end of June 2025 are detailed below:
Year | €m |
---|---|
2021 | 5.698 |
2022 | 9.613 |
2023 | 11.103 |
2024 | 11.112 |
Jan-Jun 2025 | 4.740 |
