The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is responsible for two Votes - Vote 27 (International Cooperation) and Vote 28 (Foreign Affairs and Trade). There are no agencies under the aegis of the Department.

Grant payments are administered from programme budgets, with a significant level of grant aid being issued via the Irish Aid programme. The Department also supports Irish communities globally with the Emigrant Support Programme, promotes reconciliation and north-south cooperation with the Reconciliation Fund, the Shared Island Fund and administers other targeted grant schemes.
