The Copyright and Related Rights Amendment Bill was formally published on 13 June 2025. The General Scheme of the Bill, which provides a detailed description of the intended objectives and scope of the proposed legislation had been made available on the Department’s website in November 2024, and it was circulated to all relevant stakeholders at that time.

Officials within my Department have maintained regular engagement with a range of stakeholders in recent months, including the main representative bodies in the sector.

More recently, one of these parties submitted a detailed written submission concerning the Bill and requested a meeting at ministerial level.

Due to diary commitments, Minister Burke was regrettably unavailable . However, a meeting has been scheduled at official level and is due to take place later this month.
