Under my Department's 2025 Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme (EERP), €90m has been made available to Local Authorities to upgrade approximately 2,500 homes. It is expected that 36,500 local authority owned homes will be retrofitted under this programme by the end of 2030, achieving a minimum BER rating of B2.
In certain circumstances, my Department supports the installation of 1kWp solar PV for small social housing with a floor area less than 55 m2, with a maximum HLI of 2.6. In such cases local authorities are required to cooperate with SEAI as part of research monitoring the performance of heat pumps in these dwellings. Detailed in the table below are the number of PV installs funded by my Department:
Year | Total PVs Funded |
---|---|
2021 | 8 |
2022 | 22 |
2023 | 11 |
2024 | 1 |
Pre BER Rating | 2021 Avg. Payable Amt. per EE BER Rating | 2022 Avg. Payable Amt. per EE BER Rating | 2023 Avg. Payable Amt. per EE BER Rating | 2024 Avg. Payable Amt. per EE BER Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|
B | €9,262.00 | €15,879 | €26,430 | €27,506 |
C | €19,777.00 | €23,295 | €27,255 | €31,395 |
D | €22,402.00 | €26,832 | €31,062 | €33,490 |
E | €23,693.00 | €29,441 | €32,945 | €35,941 |
F | €24,414.00 | €28,486 | €33,956 | €38,745 |
G | €14,699.00 | €25,978 | €34,154 | €39,369 |
An annualised breakdown of the total funding provided and the number of properties upgraded under the Energy Efficiency Retrofit programme is available on my Department's website at the following link: www.gov.ie/en/publication/668c1-energy-efficiency-retrofitting-programme-expenditure-output/.
My Department also introduced a pilot Midlands Energy Retrofit Programme in 2020, the details of which can be found on the link below: www.gov.ie/en/publication/b86b3-midlands-energy-retrofit-programme-expenditure-and-units/#.
