288. To ask the Minister for Education and Skills further to Parliamentary Question No. 327 of 12 June 2025, the number of teachers required to reduce the teacher pupil ratio to 19:1 and 18:1 respectively. [33379/25]

Each one point reduction in the staffing schedule at primary level for DEIS and non-DEIS schools requires over 400 additional teaching posts and so a four point reduction would require in the region of 1650 posts while a five point reduction would require in excess of 2000 posts.
