To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the number of new public sector jobs created in each of the past five years, disaggregated by civil service, local government, HSE, education, and other public bodies; and if this data can be compared with new employment figures provided by the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment in relation to multinationals and domestic private-sector employment. As part of the oversight and monitoring role of my Department, officials collate public service staffing data on a quarterly basis. The table below shows the total full-time equivalent (FTE) end-year numbers, as supplied to my Department by the relevant Departments, in this capacity.
