The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) provides funding for the development and enhancement of outdoor recreational infrastructure such as walking trails, cycleways, water-based recreation sites and mountain trails.
Under ORIS 2021, Kerry County Council was approved funding of €49,950 under the project development measure for the 'Infrastructural Development Plan for Inch Beach'. The aim of the proposal was to deliver an infrastructural development plan to address the infrastructural deficits in relation to mobility, traffic management, car parking, safe beach access, and public realm and the provision of modern toilet and shower facilities given its popularity as a water sports destination.
The project was completed in 2024 with €46,881 being drawn down.
