A precise costing for the establishment of a Minor Ailment Scheme cannot be provided without the following information:
- What conditions or ‘minor ailments’ would be included in such a Scheme.
- What level of activity for each condition or minor ailment specified would be expected under the Scheme.
- Whether a consultation fee would be paid to pharmacists for the provision of the services under the scheme, and, if so, at what level.
- Whether the State would continue to provide payments to GPs for the services they currently provide to medical card holders for the treatment of the specified minor ailments.
