The Solar Capital Investment Scheme is a measure under the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3), which provides support to farmers wishing to invest in renewable energy. The scheme has proved to be extremely popular since its launch on 22 February 2023. Approvals have issued for applications in Tranches 1-5 of the scheme, with approvals for Tranche 6 expected to issue shortly. The current tranche of TAMS 3 closes for applications on 6 June 2025, with the next tranche expected to open immediately thereafter.
I believe the scheme is the best mechanism to encourage on-farm renewable technology uptake, and to assist farmers in maximising their contribution to the production of renewable energy through the installation of Solar PV technology, together with battery storage on Irish farms.
