Disability allowance (DA) is a weekly allowance paid to people with a specified disability who are aged 16 or over and under the age of 66. This disability must be expected to last for at least one year and the allowance is subject to a medical assessment, means test and the habitual residency conditions,

I can confirm that my Department received an application for DA from the person concerned on 25 March 2025, and they have been awarded DA effective from 26 March 2025. This person was notified on 8 May 2025. The first payment will be paid by their chosen payment method on 28 May 2025.

Arrears of payment due from 26 March 2025 to 27 May 2025 will issue as soon as possible, once adjusted for any overlapping payments during this period, if applicable.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
