There are two Ministers of State attached to the Department of the Taoiseach:

the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Mental Health; and

the Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence.

Functions in respect of the Central Statistics Office have been delegated to the Government Chief Whip and Minister of State for Mental Health by the Statistics (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2025 (S.I. No. 23/2025).

The Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence has no functions formally delegated to him relating to the Taoiseach’s responsibilities. However, the Minister of State may carry out certain duties, notably in relation to Oireachtas business, as may be assigned by the Taoiseach.
