648. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the reason pension services of the National Shared Services Office (NSSO) requires a surviving spouse to submit "the original death certificate" whereas the NSSO's HR services requires a certified copy of the death certificate and whether it would make more sense for the submission of just the one copy of a certified copy of the death certificate to either pension services or HR services in order to minimise the administrative burden and duplication for surviving spouses who are claiming a civil or public service pension. I wish to advise the Deputy that a deferred reply will be issued to him in respect of this Parliamentary Question, in line with Standing Order 51(1)(b).
