257. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if he will detail whether any surveys have been carried out to estimate the amount of time taken up with administrative tasks where such time could be used more efficiently; if so, in which areas of the Department has this examination been carried out; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There has been no survey of the type referenced by the Deputy. Staff have role profiles and goals set out for delivery under the Performance Management Development System used across the Civil Service. These are reviewed on an ongoing basis by line managers to ensure delivery of business needs and to reprioritise tasks and resources as needed.
The Corporate team regularly reviews processes and procedures to ensure streamlined administration. My Department also uses IT to improve delivery of services including use of OCGIO Build to Share systems such as eSubmissions and ePQs. In order to improve record management, for example, eDocs was rolled out across my Department during 2024.
