To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the rationale for the National Shared Services Office refusing to post hard copy pay slips on each payment date to pensioners, particularly those advanced in years, some of whom are living alone, who cannot obtain their payslips online as they do not own a mobile phone or a computer, and therefore cannot keep track of payments, and in particular deductions (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the National Shared Services Office (NSSO) that the decision to cease the routine issue of paper payslips was made prior to the establishment of the NSSO and was part of a wider Government strategy on the digitalisation of Public Services.

I understand that the NSSO is responsible for the distribution of staff and pensioner payslips, these payslips are distributed by electronic means and are available to access 24/7 on its website. The NSSO provides additional support to pensioners including a dedicated support line for pensioners to deal with queries and does assist with requests for specific printing of payslips, where required. I understand that the NSSO was in touch with the pensioner's family to update them in relation to this matter.
