Their salary is aligned to the Civil Service Principal Officer salary scale. These appointments will be subject to forthcoming Government approval. Details in relation to each incoming Special Adviser will be laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas in due course.
In addition, my office as Minister for Defence comprises of one Assistant Principal Officer, one Executive Officer and two Clerical Officers. Each officer is paid at the rate applicable to the civil service salary for the grade in which they serve. The Assistant Principal, as Private Secretary to the Minister, also receives an allowance of €25,451.81 per annum.
