The following table shows the number of personnel admitted to the Permanent Defence Force for each of the past five years, by gender:

266. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if he is satisfied with the number of visitors to the Curragh Camp Museum; the signage in relation to the museum; the overall presentation of the site and museum; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17026/25]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 265 and 266 together.

The Curragh Museum located within the Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh Camp displays historic items of significance with regard to the State and the Defence Forces. My Department does not have a role in the operation of the Museum and does not provide direct funding in respect of same. The Museum is operated on a voluntary basis and is operated by serving Defence Forces personnel and volunteers from the Veteran organisations. Any maintenance of the building is carried out by Defence Forces through their delegated budget for property maintenance. I am advised that there are plans to carry out minor refurbishment works to the exterior of the museum. In relation the visitor numbers, details of same as advised by the military authorities is set out below.
