I propose to take Questions Nos. 465, 466 and 469 together.
Social Housing is delivered through a range of local authority and Approved Housing Body (AHB) delivery programmes. Capital expenditure on the delivery of new social homes is also supported by current funding provided through the Social Housing Current Expenditure Programme (SHCEP).
The table below sets out the details in respect of social housing expenditure through build, acquisition and lease delivery schemes in each year over the period 2020 – 2023. In relation to 2024 Housing expenditure, this is currently being examined and will be available shortly.
2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | |
---|---|---|---|---|
€m | €m | €m | €m | |
Social Delivery | ||||
Build | 1,032 | 1,075 | 1,476 | 1,597 |
Acquisition | 281 | 328 | 220 | 458 |
Lease | 207 | 287 | 384 | 199 |
Total | 1,519 | 1,690 | 2,079 | 2,253 |
In relation to funding for AHBs, my Department does not fund AHBs directly, rather the funding is provided primarily to the local authorities and also to the Housing Agency, who in turn, release this funding to the AHBs in line with relevant funding scheme conditions. However, the funding provided by my Department in respect of the main range of AHB capital and current funded schemes, in each year over the period 2020 – 2023, is set out in the table below.
Year | Funding €m |
---|---|
2020 | 515 |
2021 | 633 |
2022 | 797 |
2023 | 1,062 |
