280. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the resources provided within his Department for the summer camps scheme, which provides Irish language enrichment and acquisition opportunities for young people in the out-of-school environment during the summer; and whether an increase could be provided to support organisations which seek to organise such summer camps through the medium of Irish. My Department currently provides funding of €330,000 per annum to Údarás na Gaeltachta who are responsible for administering the Summer Camp Scheme in the Gaeltacht on behalf of the Department. The funding provided by my Department for the scheme benefits over 6,000 children who attend over 200 approved camps in the Gaeltacht each year. My Department has also made funding of €140,000 available to Foras na Gaeilge for that organisation’s Summer Camp Scheme in 2025.
