The Programme for Government includes a number of commitments that are being progressed and will lead to changes in the structure and responsibilities of my Department.

Responsibility for integration, international protection accommodation and Ukraine accommodation will transfer back to my Department from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. Responsibility for the National Cyber Security Centre will be transferred from the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications to my Department. In addition, responsibility for matters related to property services will transfer to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, while censorship will transfer to the Department of Arts, Media, Communications, Culture and Sport.

The implementation of the transfer of functions is guided by the Transfer of Functions Guidelines and Best Practice Handbook developed by the Department of Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform. This is available online at www.gov.ie/en/publication/a490d1-transfer-of-functions-guidelines-and-best-practice-handbook/.

Work to give effect to these commitments is being prioritised for early completion. The effective date for the transfer will be determined by a Transfer of Function Order under the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act 1939 which will require the prior approval of Government.
