Coimisiún na Meán, established under the Online Safety and Media Regulation (OSMR) Act, is Ireland’s online safety and media regulator. It is independent in the exercise of its functions.

As provided for under the OSMR Act, An Coimisiún is responsible for the development of the online safety code and in October 2024, it adopted Ireland's first such code.

In adopting the code, An Coimisiún published information related to its development, including its response to the consultation process referred to by the Deputy. All of this information is available on the Coimisiún na Meán website: www.cnam.ie/industry-and-professionals/online-safety-framework/online-safety-code/
