To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of persons who received the benefit of the Probation of Offenders Act 1907, following proven charges under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 between 2020 to date, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Neglect or causing unnecessary suffering to any animal is unacceptable in our society and I am fully committed to the ongoing promotion and enforcement of high animal welfare standards. My Department continues to enforce the law in this important area as does An Garda Síochána, the Customs service, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) and the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA).
The number of persons who received the benefit of the Probation of Offenders Act 1907, following proven charges under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 between 2020 to date is set out below, in tabular form:
