To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the total number of suspensions and expulsions in each special school across Ireland for the past three academic years, in tabular form, including any relevant details regarding the demographic breakdown where available; and if she will make a statement on the matter. All primary schools, including special schools, and post-primary schools must report annually on student non-attendance in primary and post-primary schools at an aggregated level. This data is collected by Tusla Education Support Service (TESS). Schools make two returns to TESS, the Annual Attendance Report (AAR) and the School Absence Report (SAR).

Set out below, in tabular form is the most recent published data. The figures for the 2018/2019 school year are included for context as this is the last full school year pre-Covid 19 public health measures.
