The table below provides the annual amounts claimed by special advisors appointed to my Department since 2020 and to date in 2025.
Year | Mileage KM | Mileage Value | Vouched Expenses | Unvouched Expenses | Total |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
2020 | 1001 | €427.79 | €247.90 | €73.94 | €749.63 |
2021 | 782 | €296.78 | €65.98 | €104.76 | €467.52 |
2022 | 64 | €24.28 | €80.37 | €94.33 | €198.98 |
2023 | 10,908 | €7,096.52 | €1,860.99 | €13,751.45 | €22,708.96 |
2024 | 14,213 | €10,205.80 | €5,420.94 | €5,109.72 | €20,736.46 |
2025 | 810 | €419.74 | €122.80 | €692.04 | €1,234.58 |
These expenses were travel and subsistence payments associated with domestic and international travel on Department business and were paid in line with Department travel and subsistence policy and procedures. The expenses outlined do not include costs of flights associated with official travel by personnel providing special advisory services which are borne by my Department. The Deputy will appreciate that providing information on each journey would be somewhat cumbersome given that it involves information on over 140 individual journeys from 2020 to date in 2025. It should be borne in mind that claim levels in 2020 and 2021 were significantly lower than subsequent years due to restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
