To ask the Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection the number of non-nationals that have claimed jobseeker's allowance for each of the past ten years; the total cost to the State of jobseeker's claims by non-nationals for each of the past ten years; and the proportion of all jobseeker's allowance claimed by non-nationals for each of the past ten years. The Department of Social Protection has published data on the number of recipients of Jobseeker’s Allowance and other schemes by broad nationality group since 2016. These breakdowns are set out in Table 1 below. Figures for 2024 are being finalised, and the Annual Statistics Report is expected to be published in June 2025.
Expenditure on Jobseeker's Allowance is provided in Table 2. Expenditure is recorded at the scheme level, not the individual level and it is not possible to accurately attribute expenditure to these different groupings.
