Citizenship Division of my Department receives a significant number of applications which are incomplete. In such cases, the application is returned to the applicant to upload the additional required documentation. If the required documentation is not submitted by applicants within the specified timeframe, then their application is deemed incomplete and subsequently refused.

I can advise the Deputy that the Citizenship Division of my Department requested further documentation from the person concerned in relation to their naturalisation application on 01 November 2024 and 16 December 2024 respectively. I have been informed that the person did not fulfill these requests, therefore, their application for a certificate of naturalisation was deemed incomplete and refused.

It is open to the person concerned to lodge a new application at any point. All the required supporting documentation should be included with any new application.

Citizenship Division have produced a guidance document for all potential applicants which outlines which documents are required for the application. This document is available here: www.irishimmigration.ie/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Citizenship-Guidance-Document-April-2024.pdf.

As an Oireachtas member, you can also request the status of individual immigration cases by e-mail, using the Oireachtas Mail facility at: IMoireachtasmail@justice.ie, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process.
