611. To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government the timeframe for delivering on the commitment in the Programme for Government to extend the eligibility for the pyrite remediation scheme to include homes with damage category rating 1 with progression; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It is my intention to extend the eligibility for the pyrite remediation scheme to include applications from homes with a Damage Condition Rating (DCR) of 1 that are projected to progress to a DCR of 2 within the next few years, as defined by the Pyrite Resolution Board (PRB).

Under this amendment, the PRB will evaluate each eligible DCR1 application using strict qualification criteria. Applicants approved under this amendment will follow the existing eight stages of pyrite remediation, with an additional assessment step at stage 2. In this additional step, the Scheme Engineer will revisit the property within a defined period to reassess whether any progression has occurred as determined by the PRB. The Housing Agency will oversee these stage 2 assessments and testing on behalf of the PRB, with support from an external engineering consultant.

I intend to seek Cabinet agreement to make the necessary amendment to the scheme over the coming period.
