As the Deputy will be aware, under the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (as amended), the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the administration and management of An Garda Síochána, including all operational policing matters. As Minister, I have no role in such matters.

However, to be of assistance I sought the information requested by the Deputy from An Garda Síochána and have been advised that the table below sets out the yearly breakdown, by Garda Division, of the number of oral fluid tests carried out at Mandatory Intoxication Testing (MIT) Checkpoints up to and including 30 September 2024.

Figures are based on incidents which occurred from 1 January 2024 to 30 September, inclusive. All information is based upon operational data from the PULSE system as was available on 1 October and is liable to change.
