A project brief for the school referred to by the deputy is currently being determined by my department and it is our intention to progress the project into architectural planning as soon as possible
The Department of Education can confirm that agreement has been reached to transfer the former Abbey Community College site, Wicklow town, to the Minister for Education.
The site will provide accommodation for Wicklow Educate Together Secondary School on a permanent basis.
It is anticipated the project will be delivered under my department’s ADAPT 4 Programme which uses a professional external Project Manager to co-ordinate and drive the Design Team to achieve the best possible timeframe for the project through the stages of Architectural Planning, to Tender and Construction.
The Project Manager was appointed in Q3 2023 and is in the process of preparing documentation for the tender process for the appointment of multi-disciplinary design team consultants.
