My Department has an Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy in place. The policy is in the process of being communicated to all staff. My Department has issued guidance to assist Department staff in understanding their responsibilities on the use of artificial intelligence, including large language models, natural language processing, generative or otherwise or products based thereon in the course of their duties. As with all internal departmental Information Technology and Security policies, it is not available for external publication.

My Department continues to comply with guidance provided by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on the use of and application of AI, including Generative AI.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), such as Generative AI (GenAI) is currently blocked from use within the Departments IT Infrastructure, precluding use in business activities such as in the preparation of and response to parliamentary questions or in response to any correspondence from outside the organisation. The Department continues to comply with guidance provided by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) on the use of and application of GenAI.
